Yes. Every new account starts with a 14-day free trial of the full platform. No credit card is required and you can cancel at any time.

It includes the core loop — up to 5 customers, 5 jobs, 3 quotes and 3 invoices a month, the customer portal and online quote acceptance — for one user, free forever. It does not include the trade certificates and forms, the calendar and dispatch board, SMS and email messaging, reminders and automations, reports, timesheets, assets and stock, or the accounting and calendar integrations. Those are on the paid plans, and the 14-day trial gives you all of them with no card.

No. One price covers your whole business: every trade pack, every integration and unlimited users, with no onboarding charge and no paid add-ons. SMS and VoIP usage beyond the fair-use allowance is passed through at cost, and the Enterprise arrangement for multi-site operators is the one thing quoted separately.

Yes. Move between monthly and annual, or cancel, from the billing settings at any time — no notice period and no cancellation fee. Your data stays exportable for 90 days after cancellation.

Prices are shown excluding VAT. VAT-registered businesses reclaim it as normal; the invoice Gaffer sends you is a valid VAT invoice.

Card payments taken through Stripe and Direct Debits through GoCardless carry those providers' standard processing fees, charged by them directly. Gaffer does not add a margin.

Traffic is encrypted in transit, integration tokens and credentials are encrypted at rest, and access is scoped by role so a field engineer cannot open the books. Two-factor authentication is available on every account, sessions can be revoked per device, and every change is written to an audit log. Databases are backed up daily to separate off-site storage.

You do. Everything you put into Gaffer — customers, jobs, quotes, invoices, certificates, photos — remains yours. Export it to CSV or PDF from inside the app at any time, and the export stays available for 90 days after a cancellation. Ask for a full account deletion and it is honoured.

Email is capped at 500 outbound messages per business per day on the monthly and annual plans (2,000 on lifetime, 20 on the free plan) — comfortably above what a normal trade business sends. SMS and VoIP are billed through your own Twilio account or ours at cost; the allowance is not a hidden throttle on the platform itself.

The free plan is a permanent, deliberately small allowance — 3 quotes, 3 invoices, 5 jobs and 5 customers a month — for businesses that want to keep using Gaffer without paying. Most people trial first and then choose.

A fair question for any young product, and we would rather answer it than dodge it. Your data is exportable at any time in open formats, so a Gaffer that stopped existing would not take your records with it. If you would rather not take the bet, the monthly plan carries no commitment at all and costs the same per month as a couple of coffees.
